VISA Mobile

Visa has announced plans to launch a mobile wallet using NFC (“Near Field Communications”) to facilitate mobile payments. See the detailed announcement from Computerworld here:

The PCI Council has not yet released any formal guidance related to using NFC, but there will likely be such guidance coming from one of the PCI Council’s Special Interest Groups in the not-too-distant future. Meanwhile, if your company is considering support for NFC-based payments, a good starting point may be to review the security features available with NFC and to start considering how these capabilities can be leveraged to meet the intent of PCI DSS requirements:
